Solid as a rock. Aus 8 is a decent Japanese steel. Never had any issues with it. Great grip. Not a highspeed fanboy mall ninja blade. A cheap functional strong lockback with one of the best pouches around. Mine has front velcro as well as a snap stud. Do the new ones have the stud as well? The Mule is a great knife.
