Ok, let’s face it…you are putting together a plan and a cache of supplies to prepare for a disaster. You have no idea what that disaster may be or how bad it may be. It could be a tornado that takes out your house or your street. If so, your community will most likely come to your aid as well as your neighbors. It will be a very trying time, but you will probably get some support from friends, family, and even strangers.
Or…….it could be a category 5 hurricane that takes out all utilities, floods the entire region, (not just your town), and then it is likely to be every man/woman for his/her self!! Not nearly as comforting is it? Of course the tornado is a disaster in itself, but in the case of the hurricane, now you have to worry about strangers wanting what you have. People will do some drastic things when the waste material hits the rotating air conveyance!
So what do you do? Well, as much as it may disturb you, you are going to have to plan to protect yourself, your family, and your supplies. But don’t despair, being fore-warned is being fore-armed!! (Literally in this case.)
So start making those hard decisions now! Do you feel comfortable with a gun? Would you be able to use it if you absolutely had to in order to protect your family and belongings? Think about that one really hard. If you were to pull a gun on a would-be bad guy, and were not capable of pulling that trigger…what do you think is going to happen if the would-be bad guy takes your gun from you?
You can see how this needs to be taken into careful consideration. Maybe you are more comfortable with a stun gun. Or maybe a fixed blade knife. Maybe you are a multi-level black belt in Spank-Fu and don’t need a weapon!!
Look around and see some of the options that are available to you and make a well informed, logical decision. And then please, no matter what you decide, PRACTICE and LEARN how to use it properly!! That can’t be stressed enough!
