The Fixed Presidio knife from Benchmade is a dream for those of you that love combo edges.  This knife actually has two of them.  One in the normal location near the handle, and the other at the top of the blade near the tip.

The blade length on this knife is 6.20″ and with a handle of 5″ that makes this knife a total of 11.60″ long.  At almost a foot long that should scare the stuffing out of everything in and out of the camp site.

I’m not a fan of the handle, although the grip is nice and the knife fits very well in your hand, the handle is made out of 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum.  That is not particularly a problem in most situations, but if it’s very cold or very hot your knife could injure your hand.  Not a good scenario in a survival situation.  On the other hand, I’ve read reviews that say this is an exceptional combat knife due to its size.

151 Benchmade Griptilian Fixed Blade Knife

The Benchmade Knife Company, Inc. set-up shop in Clackamas, Oregon in 1990 (originally founded in California in 1988).  Their slogan is “Make it cool, make it solid, make it happen and definitely make it Benchmade.”

After some initial growing pains it looks like the got it right.  Benchmade makes some of the best knives available today. They make affordable knives for any budget and if money is no object they make some beautiful Damascus Steel knives.

Their customer service seems to be excellent, they really seem to care about the little people.   However, call their 800 number for service, I’ve read reports that they are extremely slow returning emails.
